NOT YET AVAILABLE IN THE US There are numerous stories about Bock beer. The most famous tale about the origin of this beverage is as follows:
Even tough Bock beer is regarded as typical Bavarian today, it originated in Northern Germany. Since 1351 this strong beer was brewed in Einbeck close to Hannover and exported to Bavaria due to its well known quality.
This full and tasteful beer was popular among Bavarian dukes and sovereigns. They thought it was cheaper and better for the reputation of Bavarian beer to employ an Einbecker brewing master than importing the beverage from Einbeck. Henceforth, beer in Munich was brewed "einpoeckscher" style.
The name changed into Bock over time, because it was closer to the Bavarian dialect and it was easier to pronounce an order in a pub.
The Schwelmer specialty brewery features this beer as "Dunkler Bock" - Dark Bock. It is gently enjoyed sip by sip.Besides the Bernstein - Amber, which is another innovative brew, the Bock is seasonally available over a period of three months.
